About
Prior to launching Katie Burke Interiors in 2017, Katie spent 13 years working in high end interior design in New York City. Her career began at Thom Filicia Inc. where she worked on many remarkable projects, most notably the US Pavilion at the 2005 World’s Fair in Aichi, Japan.
Katie was then recruited to work alongside well-known and respected AD Top 100 decorator, Tom Scheerer, where she honed her skills for an additional 11 years. While there, she was able to master a refinement for proportion, form and color. Her projects included homes in Antigua, Chicago, Del Ray Beach, Greenwich, Hobe Sound, Lake Forest, Nantucket, New York City and the Bahamas, where she assisted in the redecoration of the illustrious Lyford Cay Club in Nassau.
Several of Katie’s projects completed while working at both these firms have been featured in top decor publications including Interior Design, Vogue Living, House Beautiful and Town & Country. Also, many of her projects while working with Tom Scheerer are included in his two books, ‘Tom Scheerer Decorates’ and ‘More Decorating.’
Having lived at the beach most of her life and working predominately on tropical islands at Tom Scheerer Inc., Katie is innately drawn to coastal interiors. Her love of the ocean is reflected in her natural ability to design relaxed, approachable interiors. With a trained eye for mixing the appropriate balance of antiques with clean modern lines, she is able to create a home that is both distinctive and comfortable.
Katie received a bachelors degree in Marketing from Boston College before receiving her degree in Interior Design from the New York School of Interior Design. She currently lives at the Jersey Shore with her husband and son. Recent projects include family homes in Montclair and Belle Mead, NJ, and a private Beach Club in Vero Beach, FL .
